Estate Grown

The Fruit

Two varieties. Two distinct expressions of the Chehalem Mountain terroir.

Pinot Noir

Our Pinot Noir blocks are planted to Pommard and Dijon 115 and 777 clones on south-facing volcanic basalt slopes at 600–800 feet elevation. The combination of well-drained Jory soils, cool maritime influence, and significant diurnal temperature variation produces fruit with deep color, firm natural acidity, and layered complexity. Winemakers consistently note the structural integrity and age-worthiness of the resulting wines.

Chardonnay

Planted to Dijon 76 and 96 clones, our Chardonnay blocks benefit from the same volcanic soils and elevation that define the estate. The fruit expresses a precise mineral tension — bright natural acidity, citrus and stone fruit character, and a textural weight that rewards both barrel fermentation and neutral oak treatment. Ideal for winemakers seeking Burgundian-style Chardonnay with genuine Oregon terroir.

How We Farm

Every decision in the vineyard is made in service of the fruit. These are not marketing claims — they are the practices that define the quality of what we grow.

Dry Farming

No supplemental irrigation. Vine roots are forced deep into the volcanic basalt profile, drawing minerals and moisture from the earth itself. The result is concentrated, site-expressive fruit with natural balance.

Cover Crops & Soil Health

Permanent cover crops between every row build organic matter, manage erosion on our hillside blocks, and support the microbial life that drives vine health. We farm the soil as much as the vine.

Hand Harvest

All fruit is hand-picked at optimal maturity into small bins. No mechanical harvesting. Picking decisions are made block by block, row by row — never by a single harvest date across the estate.

Canopy Management

Meticulous shoot positioning, leaf removal, and cluster thinning ensure even ripening and optimal sun exposure. We target 2 tons per acre across all blocks — quality over yield, without exception.
